Top 5 lakes with high salt content allows one to float effortlessly on the water

Dead Sea - 5


This is well known and famous salt lake bordered by Jordan. This lake has a salinity of 34.2%. It has 8 times more salinity level than Normal Ocean.  The Dead Sea is renowned for its buoyancy which makes people float and consequently attracts lots of visitors. 

Lake Vanda - 4


This lake located at Antarctica. It has nearly 10 times more salinity level than Normal Ocean. There are three distinct layer of water with three different temperature. 23 °C of bottom layer, 7 °C middle layer, 4–6 °C of upper layer.  

Pink lake - 3


This name comes because of an algae. Which is Dunaliella salina. This is a type of green algae, especially found in sea. This lake is separated from Atlantic Ocean. This pond has a salinity of 40%. It has nearly 11 times more salinity level than Normal Ocean. This lake is like dead sea, people can float easily. The salt from this sea is used for fish preservation. Every day people are digging salt from this sea.

Gaet'ale Pond - 2


Gaet'ale Pond is a small hypersaline lake. This pond is located at Ethiopia. This pond has a salinity of 43%. It has nearly 12 times more salinity level than Normal Ocean. The normal temperature of this lake is 50–55 °C. Because this lake is formed after an earth quake on 2005. Salinity level of water is 433 g/kg (w/w).

Don Juan Pond - 1


Don Juan Pond is a small and very shallow hypersaline lake. It is located at Antarctica. This lake has a salinity of 44%. It has 12 times more salinity level than Normal Ocean. This salinity allows the pond to be in liquid state even at the temperature of -50 °C. Salinity of water is 474 g/kg (w/w).
